Havana 
The Havana is a medium-size cat with a firm, muscular body. The first thing people notice is the glistening mahogany-colored glossy coat. The coat is smooth and feels like a luxurious mink. The coat comes in a warm shade of chocolate brown. The broad nose has a definite stop at the eyes. The whisker pinch combined with the strong square chin forms a somewhat rounded muzzle. Their enticing green, oval-shaped eyes contribute to their alert expression. Their ears are large, rounded at the tip and tilt forward. The legs are straight with the back legs being longer than the front. The paws are oval and compact. The medium-length tail is in proportion to the body and is not too broad at the base.

Temperament

Havanas are charming and playful with a soft, intimate voice. They will often use their paw to reach out to get your attention. They are people-oriented and quietly demand human companionship. This intelligent, affectionate, gentle breed will set about to rule whatever roost they find themselves in. They adapt well to most situations; making this the perfect breed for the person who wants an affectionate, intelligent and sociable pet. They make good family pets and get along great with other cats, most children and cat-friendly dogs. Havana?s crave human interaction and do not do well if neglected or left alone for long periods of time. Closed doors are unacceptable to this breed as they must be involved in all aspect of your human life. Their favorite toys are their humans! This cat is sweet in appearance and in color?chocolate!

Diligent breeding of the Havana has made it a healthy breed. Minor concerns include a tendency to develop sinus problems when exposed to sudden changes in temperature or humidity.

The Havana?s coat is easy to groom. They do not shed as much as most other breeds. They enjoy gentle grooming and this will give you the opportunity to evaluate your cat?s health condition during the grooming session. Regular brushing can also help you form a close bond with your Brown.

Origin
|
One story claims that the breed was named after the Havana rabbit, whose color is similar to that of the breed and is considered by some to be the mink of the rabbit family. Another story maintains that the breed was named after the color of a good Cuban cigar. No one knows for sure which story is true or if either story is true.
