August has been referred to as “The Dog Days of Summer” and we couldn’t agree more! August is a popular month for many things dog and cat related, and to plan your month accordingly, we have some helpful tips:
National Immunization Awareness Month is recognized all of August to remind pet owners about scheduling their pets’ annual vaccinations, which include the required Rabies vaccine, Distemperment, and checkups for heartworms and more. Please check with your veterinarian to ensure that your animal is up to date on all required vaccines.
International Cat Day, held on August 8, is a day to recognize the felines who add so much joy to our lives. If you are still on the search for a new cat or kitten to add to your family, you may want to consider one of your local shelters, or a rescue. Please check out some of the Adoption Events that our store locations host.
Many pet owners consider adding a second (or third) animal to their loving homes, and to better prepare for a potential new addition to your family, you can celebrate Clear the Shelters Month, which is observed during the month of August. So many loveable and adoptable dogs are seeking good homes and if your heart and hearth can help, stop by your local shelter to find your new addition.
There may be no better feeling than getting a toy or a treat for your pet and experiencing the wiggles and excitement in anticipation of the gift. In honor of this great tradition, there is National Spoil Your Dog Day on August 10. Whether your dog loves toys, treats, ice cream or perhaps a new bone, Care-A-Lot has everything you need to spoil your pet. With options like curbside, free local delivery*, or shopping in any one of our convenient locations, we have what you need, when you need it.
Our pets give us so much throughout their lives; unconditional love, support, laughs and emotional and health benefits. How fortunate are we to have them in our lives
