Eurasian
The Eurasian is a medium-sized dog with Spitz-like features. They have a wedge-shaped
head and a flat forehead with a distinct frontal furrow. The muzzle tapers towards
the nose. The edges of the lips are black and tight and the teeth can meet in either
a scissor or pincer bite. The dark eyes are medium-size with black rims and are
tight fitting. The prick ears have slightly rounded tips. The neck is medium and
well-muscled. The back is firm and straight. The tail is thick with bushy hair.
It is carried lying forward over the back or bent slightly sideways. The Eruasian
has a thick undercoat and medium long, loose guard hairs. The hair on the muzzle,
face, ears and front of the legs is short. The coat on the neck is only slightly
longer than on the body and does not form a mane. All colors are permitted with
this breed except all white, white patches or liver.

Temperament
|
The Eurasian is good-natured, calm, stable and friendly. This noisy breed forms
a strong bond with his owners and is gentle with well-behaved children. They are
reserved with strangers, but will seldom attack. They do not do well if kenneled
or left alone too long. This breed is intelligent and quick to learn. Training should
begin at an early age. They do not respond well to harsh discipline. Repetitive
training will bore this breed. They will bark at things that are unfamiliar to them.
They do well with other dogs.

|
Health concerns include hip dysplasia.

Living Conditions
|
The Eurasian will do okay in an apartment as long as they receive adequate exercise.

This breed requires lots of daily exercise which could include a long daily walk.

The Eurasian is a clean dog and must be brushed regularly.

Origin
|
The Eurasian originated in Germany. They evolved by crossing a Chow Chow and a Wolfspitz.
They were originally called the Wolf Chow. After they were crossed with a Samoyed,
they were renamed the Eurasian. They are recognized by the UKC, the FCI and have
been accepted for recording in the AKC Foundation Stock Service®.
